Lab Gems

A Lab Gemstones are created in a laboratory rather than by nature. A Lab created gemstone has the same chemical, optical and physical properties as its natural counterpart. So, while a lab grown emerald did not form naturally, it will appear to be natural in any test conducted on it. In most cases, the only way to separate a natural gem from a lab-created gem is that the lab gem is too “perfect” and includes no flaws. For instance, no natural emeralds are without inclusions while lab emeralds are free of inclusions.

Natural Gems

Many natural gemstones can be set into metal clay and fired in place. Other gemstones will not survive the heat of a kiln and should be set after firing.
