Royston Ribbon Turquoise Gemstone
Originally discovered in the 1970’s by a herder who stumbled upon a vein of turquoise on the hillside, Royston Ribbon Turquoise is from the Boulder turquoise mine in northeast Nevada. The turquoise develops in amazing stripes or ribbons -- and it is up to the stone cutter or lapidary artist to enhance the beauty of the stone by optimizing the placement of the ribbon. Production of this unique type of turquoise has been small because of how remote the mine is. This makes Royston Ribbon Turquoise valuable for both its beauty and rarity.
Turquoise was known in antiquity as "the truth stone," symbolizing a time to be honest with yourself.
This stone is set on a plastic base to give height in a setting.
