HIGH FIRE Suitable for Firing ~ AUSSIE COPPER, AUSSIE SNOW WHITE COPPER, AUSSIE PINK BRASS & AUSSIE VINTAGE BRASS

Aussie Metal Clays require to be fired in a Kiln using Activated Coconut carbon and the firing schedules have 2 parts.

Please remember this firing schedule is based on a cold kiln and thickness of the piece is also something you need to work out. If a piece is any thicker than about 6mm thick you may need extra time due to the thickness of the piece.

Rehydrating Aussie Metal Clay Make sure you use DISTILLED or DEMINERALISED WATER as it hydrates the clay better than ordinary water. Keep any moist clay in a sealed container so it doesn’t dry out.

    1st Stage Fire:
Set pieces on a bed of activated coconut carbon at a depth of approx. 15-18mm under pieces. Ramp at 700C/1292F to a hold temperature of 500C/932F. Hold for 30 to 45 minutes for complete burnout of organic binder. Let cool.

    2nd Stage Fire:
Cover with 15-18mm Activated Coconut Carbon. Full Ramp at 1000C/1832F to a hold Temp of 970C/1778F. Hold for a minimum hold time of 2 to 2 1/2 hours.

Do Test Pieces First To See Correct Temperature For Your Kiln. Your Kiln temperature may need to be modified to suit – not all Kilns fire the same. Remove your pieces from the activated coconut once cool and your pieces are ready to brass brush, tumble & polish.

    Shrinkage: Between 12 & 15%
