Cool Tip! Logo

Metal clays are water based and will dry over time. Store in our Clay Hydrator to extend the life of your clay. Watch our video below.

It is necessary to always dry your pieces completely before firing. The surface of fired pieces will be white and matte due to the crystallization of the silver during firing.

Add luster using a Foredom® with Radial Bristle Discs, a Brass Brush, Polishing Pads or give it a spin in your tumbler.

Click on our "TechSpecs" tab above for firing instructions and additional information.

This silver metal clay is perfect for use with glass, sterling silver and settings.

General Firing Instructions

Uses This clay is perfect for use with glass, sterling silver and settings.
Workability Art Clay Silver is a low fire, slow dry clay. If the clay becomes stiff during use add a few drops of distilled water and knead well. This clay has an 8-10% shrinkage. This product dries four times slower, giving the artist more time to form pieces. Check out the video on our Metal Clay Hydrator and see how easy it is to extend the life of your clay.
Embedded Objects Any object that can withstand the firing temperatures and times of 1200°F can be embedded and fired in place. This includes glass, some natural gemstones, lab gems, cubic zirconia and porcelain. Check out our Gemstone Firing Guide for details on a specific stone.
