Preparation
Some gold settling may occur at bottom of the jar. Stir the paste well with a skewer or metal spatula before use.
- Clean the surface of the porcelain, glass or ceramic with alcohol, or soap and water to remove dust or oil which may interfere with the
Gold Paste sticking to the surface.
- Prepare a paintbrush specifically for use of the Gold Paint. You can apply the undiluted paste, or dilute the Gold Paste with water or medium to the consistency needed in order to paint.
- Area must have a matte surface. If polished, re-fire the silver
piece in a kiln for 5 minutes at 1436ºF / 780ºC, if the piece is
made only with Art Clay Silver. Option: can be torch fired until the piece
returns to the matte state.
- If the silver piece has other materials such as glass or
porcelain, re-fire it for 30 minutes at 1292ºF / 700ºC. Allow to
cool.
- Surface must be clean. If piece has been handled after firing,
clean with alcohol to remove oils or dirt which may prevent
adhesion of gold to surface.
Application
The color of the Gold Paste will lighten when fired onto Art
Clay Silver as the gold and silver together becomes an
alloy. The longer and hotter they are fired together, the
lighter the gold result. Following the firing instructions
is critical. If Gold Paste on Art Clay Silver is placed into a
cold kiln and allowed to fire, the gold will be very light. Air dry completely before firing. (at least 15 minutes)

Uses
|
Art Clay Gold Paste is made to use directly on the surface of ceramic, porcelain and/or glass. When applying to Art Clay Silver, the Gold Paste should be used in conjunction with Art Clay Silver Overlay Paste, ACS-215, to ensure adherence to pre-fired Art Clay Silver.
|
Workability
|
Art Clay Gold Paste is in a viscous liquid form, so you can add texture or draw directly onto the surface of your piece. It comes in two bottles, one 1.5gm of thick paste; the other contains 5ml of medium to dilute the paste to a more workable consistency on glazed surfaces. Do not store in the refrigerator. Product will dry after opening. Reconstitute with distilled water to original paste form.
