The Xpress E9A features a double-wall steel case with a brick firebox. This double wall case keeps the outside cool even when firing for several hours. Notice that the firebox is high above the base of the kiln; keeping the space below the firebox completely cool. The firebrick insulation means a long, slow cooling time, perfect for glass annealing. The door includes a peephole for viewing the progress of your projects. This model has a very roomy interior and the height will accommodate one bronze clay firing box.

The Xpress E9A features the Sentry Xpress 4.0 controller by Orton. The Sentry Xpress is a 3-button controller that has 5 speed settings and 4 programmable, segmented settings. The speed settings can be used by entering in just the target temperature and hold/soak time, and the segmented settings can be used to program anything from a single segment firing to one with up to 8 segments. All this flexibility is very user friendly. Watch our video tutorial to see how easy it is to operate a digitally controlled kiln.

Keeping an eye on your work is important for glass and enamels. The Xpress E9A with the optional viewport includes a small peephole in the door with a metal cover for looking in on the progress of the firing. For a bigger view, order this model with a 2” x 2” Viewport. Having a viewport on your kiln can cause some heat loss during firing. A fiber plug is available to place in the window during firings which will help preserve the heat inside.

Travel
Routine travel is not recommended for any kiln, but for short trips, this kiln can be laid on its back with the original foam pad between the door and the firing chamber to avoid abrasion from vibration. It's a good idea to keep the original box and packing material for long distance shipping. Packing your kiln just as you received it in the original custom fit box is the safest way to transport it.

This model can be ordered in different voltages for destinations outside the United States.

IMPORTANT DELIVERY INFORMATION

Our Xpress E9A digital kiln will ship directly from the manufacturer in Mesquite, Texas separately from the rest of the items in your order. Shipping is normally 1 week from order, but can take up to 2 weeks during holidays and sales. Please allow at least 2 weeks time for your kiln to be built. Some models may be in stock and ship sooner, however Cool Tools cannot guarantee exact date of shipment.
