Mandrels are made os stainless steel and have a low heat transfer to keep your fingers cool while working in direct open flame.  The bead rake can be used to manipulate molten glass by dragging, raking, feathering, or swirling the surface.  It can also be used to make air bubbles or poke holes through the glass.  Its bent tip provides for a comfort grip.
